American cuisine (the cuisine of the USA) reflects the mentality of the whole American nation and is characterised by rationality, standard and mass character. The food eaten by Americans has often been the object of mockery and criticism, as in many ways the American food is harmful and dangerous for the human organism. The most common products in the American cuisine are canned goods, preserved foods, sausage goods, sandwiches, ready-made drinks like whisky, beer, cocktails, juices made out of concentrates etc. Due to the fact that the production of food is mostly concentrated in big companies and corporations after decades of monopolization, mergers and takeovers, the food is produced in very large quantities and at a very fast pace – that's why genetic modification has been invented, as well as various chemicals are being used to improve the quality of products. In many cases the food is supplied to restaurants and cafes in a frozen state and all they need to do is to defrost it, warm it up a little bit and serve to the client. The process lead to standardization of portions and prices, allowing only such products as steaks, burgers, sausages, eggs, coffee to enter the market. Even making a quality cup of tea became impossible in this situation as it required carefulness and peculiar conditions of brewing. Nevertheless, together with such standardization another trend developed in the USA – national cuisines of immigrants attracted more and more people because their food was different and in fact was of higher quality.
